La Petite Knitterie

Thanks for all your well wishes! I'm on the mend, though still fuzzy brained, and before any more time passes I want to post about last Saturday's road trip to La Petite Knitterie, one of my favorite LYS.

They were celebrating their three-year anniversary with a sale, so Marie, Patty and I went to check it out.

Spun confectionery

An exquisite gem of a store, LPK's shelves are full of lovely yarns, some of which are hand-spun and hand-dyed by the talented Lori Lawson. (Who graciously remembered me from when Jillian, Barbara and I stalked her Capistrano Fibers Arts Studio booth at the Southern California Hand Weaver's Fiber Show last fall. I was honored and felt not worthy.)

Lori spinning her magic

I came away with four skeins of her variegated LPK Handpaints superwash merino fingering weight, with which I'm thinking about making a Chevron Scarf.

LPK Handpaints in baskets, along with adorable baby sweaters

Now, I need your opinion. Do you like these colors together? Hate 'em? Is the purple too dark?

The subtle coloration really is beautiful, and I want to make sure I use this yarn to its full advantage.

It was a fun outing, and for sure we'll be attending the 2007 SoCal Handweaver's show, too. It will be on Sunday, November 4th; more details here. See you there?

I really love the colors together on the chevron scarf. If the colors are accurate on my monitor, they look great together. I'm gobbling up yarn like a crazy woman and every time I keep coming across great color combinations for the chevron scarf. Sigh... can I really hold off until Fall?

I *really* love those two together! Gorgeous!

I started a chevron with a kind of hot magenta and a much lighter yellows and thought the same thing that the magenta was too strong but decided to run with it. Still not as cool as yours.

M - that's the first chevron scarf where I've actually audibly 'ooooh'ed! I really like the colors you chose!

IMO the two colors are gorgeous together! And I am definitely on for the road trip to the Fiber show this fall. I feel envious that y'all went to La Petite Knitterie, but glad that I didn't have to avoid the temptation to buy still more yarn.

Glad you're feeling better.

Glad to hear you are feeling much better. Your LYS looks super, I wish I lived closer, and Happy Birthday to them. The yarn you purchased is gorgeous and the colours together are super and really compliment each other. Perfect for the chevron scarf, look forward to seeing more progress picture soon.

Another vote here for the color combination! I like purples with greens in general, and these particular shades look great together.

I love those colors together! Perfect for the chevron scarf pattern. You wouldn't think they'd go together, but the mesh perfectly.

Love the combo, loved the yarns in person and they are working up just perfectly! Nice counterpoint of the "crossover colors" from one yarn to the other.
Keep up the healing and resting!

I'm loving that color combo.....go with it!

Oh that looks like so much fun and I really like the colors together. One seems like the main color with a softer companion that merges so quietly. Very nice.

I really like the color combo! (I think if the purple was any lighter the stripe effect might be lost because of the subtle pink in the green skein.)

I love those two together! Can you believe I have never been to LPK? I love Lori's work, but I haven't been to the shop. I know, I know...

What a disappointment!.
La Petite Knitterie is no longer located at Mercantile West.
Does anyone know if they have a new shop or anyway to contact them?
Distressed knitter!
